What would you do if you could exchange “Monopoly” money for real currency?

Our guess is that you, like us, would head off to the nearest bank today and make that transaction. Similarly, we believe that God gives each of us regular opportunities to invest in eternal “Treasures in Heaven” (Matthew 6:19-21).

Both as individuals and as a community of faith, we want to be open to chances to serve and to give gifts from Him. Not only so that we experience the joy and satisfaction seeing others blessed, but also to invest in what we believe outlasts all worldly treasure and is a resource for eternity.

While it is clear that our personal giving should, if at all possible, be anonymous, we want to share a “public” opportunity that God gave us, in hopes that it will be inspiring and encouraging.

The Advent Conspiracy

For Christmas, 2008, we were privileged to fund the drilling of two wells in two small villages in Liberia. We diverted some of the money we would normally spend on each other (and ourselves) at Christmas, and collected it for the projects. Our friends, James and Kathleen Ngenda, who live in Monrovia, connected us to their home village, Pellewe, and to a nearby village, Dememta, where fresh water wells were completed in early 2009.
